NORS need volunteer river enthusiasts for
the following projects:
State river law project leader: Here
is what you do: Gather information about state river law for your state (or
another state of your choice.) Compose a series of questions about river
conservation, access, and recreation rights in your state. Group together the
legal cases and other information that helps answer each question. Locate an
attorney and a paralegal to work with you to finalize professional answers to
the questions. Coordinate with NORS headquarters to get the final version
printed and distributed, and published on this website.
Webmaster: Once a week, check the new
postings from people to the state information in the River Rendezvous
section of this website, for your state or a neighboring state of your choice.
Edit and integrate the information into the River Regsistry to create a
current report of river acitivities and issues in your state. In this way you
will help build a network of people in your state who will be able to defend
public ownership of rivers against the current onslaught of proposals to
privatize rivers in many states. For more information, go to the
River Registry then pick a state and go to the
Webmaster section of that state.
Grant writer: Write grant requests to
certain foundations and outdoor equipment manufacturer associations, requesting
grants for river conservation and access projects. Also to the U.S. Coast Guard
for river safety and skills education projects.
